CAMPAIGN 2009

During these weekends, the crews will be introduced to ‘watch systems’ and to the operation of the boats at night.  They will be coached on all aspects of sail handling (changing, trimming for speed, spinnakers, storm sails, etc) as well as safe handling of the boat itself.  We will bring various trainers onboard during the campaign, to ensure that everyone onboard plays a full and valuable role within the team.

CAMPAIGN DETAILS

  -  a min of 6 training days with dedicated trainers

  -  16 days of inshore racing

  -  race coaching

  -  embroidered crew jackets and shirts

  -  accommodation onboard the yachts

  -  all meals on-board.

This package costs £2,450. The package does not include the cost of Sea Survival Training or First Aid training which all crews should ideally have.

This Campaign is designed with qualification into the Rolex Fastnet Race in mind.  Due to various safety concerns, the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) have now stipulated that all competing crews must have raced a minimum of 300 miles together, during offshore RORC type races.

As such, we have based this programme around ensuring that everyone onboard is trained in the safe operation of the yacht during an offshore race.  Therefore we have prefixed the Offshore Races with two training weekends.

This is a campaign that will suit sailors of any ability, due to the amount of training that will be offered.  The only requirement is that you are physically fit.

During this offshore season you will gain considerable experience in handling a yacht on the open sea.   You will be an integral and valued member of the team , dedicated to success.

  -  race entry fees and marina fees

  -  use of wet weather gear and safety equipment
